The Quiet Brilliance of a Slow Movie

I don’t usually go for slow cinema, but this one earned every quiet minute. The pacing asks a lot of patience up front, and pays it back with a third act that recontextualizes everything before it.

What worked

The sound design carries most of the emotional weight — dialogue is sparse, and the film trusts long static shots to do the talking. It’s the kind of movie you feel more than follow.

Tip

Watch this one with good headphones. A lot of the tension lives in the low end.

The trailer undersells it

The marketing makes it look like a conventional thriller. It is not that. Go in expecting mood over plot and you’ll have a much better time.

Verdict

Not for everyone, but for the right mood, close to essential.
